ParticipantWasn’t sure where to put this. We built an insulated winter stock tank and put it out recently. Thought some on here would be interested. It has a south facing polycarbonate window to maximize solar energy. You can see photos here.

ParticipantI have used a insulated box now for about ten years. Will not elliminate the use of a heater , but I only have to plug it in a couple of times a week to thaw out any acumulated ice. I also put a couple of old cooler lids in the tank to reduce suface. The polycarbonate window looks like a good indea , I supppose it as to be located on the south side of the tank.

ParticipantUnfortunately, it’s been unseasonably warm since I put the new tank out. It hasn’t really been tested yet.
