    You’ve probably heard about the bark beetle issues we are having out west.

    The new 2009 aerial flight data was just released. It is crucial info that we use for funding and management decisions.

    Just for perspective I zoomed in and made a couple of maps of where I live, both 2008 and then 2009. I live close to the center where Mount Ethel is. Take a look and compare; red is bad…

    That’s what it would look like here in south west Wyoming Scott. Looks pretty bad when there’s more brown than green surveying the pines in the Uinta Mountains.

    We’ve got ’em bad here in NW MT too…. but there is a faction that keeps jumping in front of any and all timber sales that could possibly have a chance of helping the problem….ohwell.
