the job of packing out firewood from steep mountain forests is considered the second toughest and most dangerous job, first being the mining.
this video shows how they do it with horses.
the breed is Bosnian mountain horse. they are hardy, strong, and surefooted.
they carry out 1/3 to 1/4 cubic meter of beech firewood logs per round.
but i can’t help but think these guys working them don’t always balance the load.here’s the vid:
