ParticipantI have a Belgian mare that I shoe myself. She takes a 6 front and a 5 hind, but her rear feet are very short. I use Kirkhart stock shoes and stud them, but the 5 is the smallest they make, I think. Has anyone used AB or other draft stocjk shoes that come in a smaller size – a four or something similar? I may just end up taking the size 5 hinds and cutting them off before I put in the studs, but a smaller size might work better.

Participantbrad, could you heat the shoe and turn down the heels to make calks. shorten the shoe and make heel calks at the same time. you’d have to weld a toe calk to match
see you at common ground?

ParticipantI had thought about that option, Mitch. That may be what I end up doing. For now, I put back on the old hinds that came with her, and I will think about options for next go round. See you at the fair.
