ParticipantI would love to go, but not sure if I can pull it off! I need to start irrigating! It’s been hot and dry!

Hmmm – maybe Robert’s in the same boat.

ParticipantGeoff – Oh, it’s on, buddy – it’s definitely on for Saturday! Only one rabbit for the chili (the young one isn’t big enough yet), but I’ll toss in a yard-bird (tastes just like, um, rabbit!). Been in the low 90s, but nothing’s been plowed up yet – although I did disc it to absorb moisture – in fact, the center of the plot is being dug up to expose the 3 septic tanks, to get ‘grandfathered’ in on the permit, so there’s only about 1/2-2/3 an acre to play with, but as soon as it is, the peas and other spring crops are going in!
And yeah, there’s a safe place to park the forecart – between the dogs, donkeys, goats & the geese on “goose knob” across the river, not much goes unnoticed around here! DDD is trying to get her work day changed, to make it over the pass Saturday, and there’s some people coming to buy a baby goat (or 3), so things should be kinda fun, methinks. Oh yeah – chinook season just opened up this last Saturday –April 25, 2012 at 1:10 am #72993near horse
ParticipantOkay – so will you also be around Friday if I make a trip down to bring a load of “toys”? I think I’ve got the directions in a PM (you’re probably getting tired of telling me by now ;>) ….. and look for the Jolly Roger?!

ParticipantYep – I’ll be here all day Friday!
If I go to town tomorrow, I’ll try to take photos of the turn off to post here.Hwy. 95 south to about a mile south of Hoot’s cafe; turn left onto old Hwy. 95 (there’s also a sign for Hammer Creek Rec. area). As soon as you turn, if you look off to your left (10 o’clock), you’ll see across the river my place, w/ the Jolly Roger, goats, large metal shed, donkeys, white Ford flatbed p/u w/ wooden racks, etc.). Follow the road back north for about a mile; there’s a fork in the road – take the left over the bridge (Doumecq Rd.). As soon as you cross the bridge, turn left onto Deer Creek Rd. follow along the river again to the first place on the left, right past the port-a-potti. If three dogs come up to greet you, you’ve got the right place. If you see 3 hillbillies w/ shotguns & start hearing the theme music from the movie ‘Deliverance’ – keep driving!!!!

ParticipantDave – If you’re coming up (love to see ya!), I’ll post photos of the turn-off from the south, as well.
Geoff, Dave, etc. – Any idea of how many you’re bringing (people and/or critters) so I can plan the chili & hay would help.

ParticipantHey Robert – much rain today? Plenty here w/ wind and lots cooler. It’s just me coming (plus my 2 horses). Don’t worry about hay – I still have a bale in my trailer.
I’ll put together a load and bring it down tomorrow (Fri) maybe get there around 2?

Are you sure you don’t mean “turn right” off Hwy 95?

ParticipantPlan change – Robert. I’ll only be coming down tomorrow, Sat, bringing my horses and plow. The load of gear isn’t going to make it. See ya in the AM.

ParticipantFinally got near a computer – Geoff, you were correct – it’s a right turn, although you obviously found it. I had fun, hope you did, as well! Those big boys sure are impressive, in action…will post photos when I next go to town. Got it disced up, had many people stop by afterwards & since then, asking questions. As Geoff knows, we had several stop to take pictures & enjoy watching us.
Geoff – I hope your back is okay?May 2, 2012 at 4:38 pm #72998near horse
