ParticipantI just built a new hay wagon the boards are ash amd the stringers are hemlock should I seal it,paint it or leave it raw ? Thought of sealing it with thompsons water seal like a deck. What would you do? Eli

Participantpeople around here paint their new decks with motor oil . when mine was new i used oil and got about 12 years with a poplar board deck. im not sure if it did anything to extend the life. my new wagon deck is pressure treated deck boards, im hoping for 20 plus years from this one.

ParticipantI will spray it with motor oil after this weekends hay ride. My father had us kids paint the bale wagons with waste oil every fall we hade them forever. I have a bunch of partial jugs of oil I will spray it and keep it inside as much as I can. Thanks Eli
