ParticipantFor all of two weeks in early June some time its been raining here in Maine since it seems like April 1st. The leather harness i use all the time are fine but some of my gear hanging in the barn has turned green with mold. Not the collars but regular leather harness. So i’ve doing a bunch of cleaning using murphy’s Oil soap, harness black , and some other various commercial leather conditioners(neats foot oil) to treat the leather. My question is what do people like to use on leather and what if any thing(besides the sun) will knock down or inhibit mold. A heated tack room is out of the question; I’ll buy some nylon when i wear out the leather maybe; don’t have an apprentice or intern yet; my two boys are…….. getting close to child labor age.?Viniger?

ParticipantHello,
from my experience it’s almost impossible to prevent mold on leather in a moist environment – one exception is daily use.
