sickle hocks
ParticipantWhich one for your farm? The I & J single row awith the field cultivator attachment would give a 4′ field cultivator or a one-row cultivator. Or the smaller Homesteader. Both can be set up with hillers. Both equally un-affordable. Fairly similar draft?
My family never grew any row crops so it’s new to me. Would it be reasonable to till between rows with the homesteader rather than using the I&J row crop cultivator over top of the row? My main row crops will be various dry beans and potatoes, and I may grow quinoa as a row crop. I am dryland farming and adapting steve solomon’s no-irrigation methods http://www.soilandhealth.org/03sov/0302hsted/030201/03020100frame.html…so i will want my row spacings wide, maybe even six feet…So I suppose I will need to take a pass between the rows anyway.
