ParticipantI have always wanted a draft horse. I have had various types of horses over the years for everything from mounted shooting to just trail riding. But fate smiled on me last week when I found a fjord type draft horse up the road from me and the owners wanted to sell her. They had bought this 10 year old for their grand daughter who rode her 3 times 5 years ago and quit. She hasn’t been messed with in 5 years. I picked her up for $300. I say fjord type because she is the same size and build but she is a bay. Now I begin the long road of teaching her to drive and finding a suitable harness and fore cart so maybe this summer I can put her to work. I have trained horses for riding before but never to pull something so even though horses aren’t new to me, draft animals, training and equipment are. I hope to learn a lot from the community. Thanks and have a great day, Vince.
