ParticipantI’ve got a couple of little Welsh ponies (12 hands) that I find are a good compromise of power and economy. Last winter they ate only two square bales a week, plus a cupful of oats and alfalfa cubes, then in summer I graze them on the lawn. In return, they hauled 10+ cords of firewood and hauled manure to fertilize the garden. They are lots of fun and a bit useful, too.
Made some neat gear for them to pull, like this Swede-style wagon and harness.
Wonder if anybody has any pictures of a good manure dump cart or other stuff made for ponies? Ever pull a small discer or plow with them?
