ParticipantHow does one safeguard against eveners breaking when you hit a Big rock plowing? I have a oliver two way sulky plow pulled by 2 horses and have broken 3 eveners this year (bent a metal in half, broke a pioneer metal evener at the hole where the pin goes through leading to my first runaway, and most recently broke a really solid but old wooden ‘logging’ evener). The rocks have been around 2-3 feet in diameter, maybe 8 inches high and one was a small rock outcrop i didn’t know about.

Participanthey anthony, pioneer makes a pretty rugged extension spring to go between your evener and the clevis. they call it a spring hitch. you might have to extend your pole to make up for the extra length. don’t know if it would work for you and your problem but it might. mitch
