#9 mower question

Hi Everyone,

I was looking at my #9 regular mower the other day and noticed a rod/bar mechanism that runs under and parallel to the axle and ends at the gear box on one side. Talking to some folks and looking in the mower stuff I have, it looks like it would be to kick the mower out of gear when you raise the cutter bar high. But even looking at pictures, I can’t see how it connects to the lifting lever – anyone see one of these? I know there are high gear and regular mowers but was there also a “vertical” lift and regular as well?

I find something new to wonder about everytime you look at these things.
