I have been offered $50.00 a cord, delivered, for softwood pulp at a local shaving mill. Any idea if this is a good price. I have a stand of trees that really need to be taken down.
I am not sure of the conversion factor from going to weight to cord, or mbf to cord, but the going rate for pulp that is going to be chipped in my area is around 160 per mbf/12000pds.
Softwood pulp markets are very tight here. The last softwood pulp I dealt with went to a collection yard for $24 a ton. That’s 51.60 percord.
Since then I have been turning down jobs with a high softwood pulp ratio because it is not cost effective for me to cut pulp at this price with horses.
