HD JD cultivator

I am curious as to why the MD straddle row cult is the only one people use or even look at. I have 2 JD straddle row cults and have used them quite happily. The visibility on the MD is a bit better, but other wise the JD is really a nicely balanced machine and certainly able to do anything I asked of it very well. Jay

I bought an MD because that is what I was able find in good condition. A friend told me of a parts JD at an auction, but other than that sighting I have not seen JD around me. They may be around, but seem less common.

Here in Michigan the JD seem to be kinda scarce. There must have been a difference in the price or marketing way back when. I only know of one Amish fella that uses a JD. When you see one they go on the cheaper end of the price range. I have seen the McCormick Deerings bring upwards of $400. If coarse that was for ones in field ready condition. I have a couple of the McD ones that I am getting anxious to try. I didn’t know until awhile ago that they made a fertilizer attatchment for them. I sure would like to find a usable one.

Hi folks.
I can honestly say I’ve never even seen a JD cultivator. I’ve always seen/used the old McD’s. They are the most prevalent in my area of the Ozarks, but then again there aren’t many JD pieces of equipment around here period.
Just my two cents.
