Our son Timber has been after me for a pony for several years. Lately, as he has seen no pony, but has seen an abundance of bull calves, he has taken a different tack. Our jersey just calved a bull the last weekend in June, and our neighbors had one a few days later, so here we go.

Alright, that will be cool. Time to get going on that 4 inch yoke.

    Carl,
If you want a 5 inch pine training yoke with PVC bows that are 4 inch let me know. I would be happy to let timber barrow it or keep it. It is a bit crude but effective.

What a pair of cuties. What are their names?
My Jersey cross boys are now about 18 months old. They’re been ;loafing a lot in this hot/humid weather. The humidity finally broke and we went out for a moderately long walk and they pulled the rake a little for practice. We had a great time.

Hector and Hugo. We are all set on a small training yoke, and Timber is building himself a 5″(the need for that is a way off). Furthermore I tend to spend much more time with them at this stage just working in halter, one at a time, reinforcing voice and whip commands. The yoke in my mind is secondary until they are actually big enough to pull something around, 1-3 months.

We’ll keep you updated, and I think he’ll have them at NEAPFD.

They have been growing well. They are easy to handle, but not that handy yet. We expect that by spring they will be pulling out some small wood.

Bazel, not to be left out, had a chance to start a third bull calf, Happiless, and he has been doing really well also.
