ParticipantOne of the areas I am working in has many scrub pasture white pine that are 40+ years old. Most of them have multiple stems beginning at 6 feet. Among these pine there are numerous hardwoods developing. I have begun to leave much of this slash just for that reason. I enjoy going back and seeing saplings growing surrounded by these barricades.
I am hoping this new growth will get a head start.Pete Jesse
ParticipantI forgot to put in there that if the landowner doesn’t need all the hay I do a 50/50 split.
I have someone who will do my haying for 50/50. Are there any items that should be included in a contract?
Thanks for your reply.

ParticipantI am about half way between Binghamton and Albany.
If you are interested contact me in the fall.I plan to use the ironwood for some poles for my horse equipment, maybe try making some handles for a broken cant hook and sledge hammers.

ParticipantThanks that sounds like a very workable idea.

ParticipantThanks for posting this.
There are days I think my chain saw is hard work.
A question:
at 12:41 during the video they are hooking up the bridle chain, it appears to be on the back bob. Is this correct? What advantage is there to having it on the back bob?Pete Jesse
ParticipantTraining horses is definitely not just playing with them, she will earn her money. The opportunities to actually complete real work and earn money are lost to many in your daughters age group. Any opportunity for youth to “work” should be view as a benefit to them. My son is now training his second riding horse, the first one was trained to ride and drive. He was told by many that he would have to have a “professional trainer” take over at some time but he has trained them with out these professionals (Maybe that makes him one). These opportunities result in a natural increase in self esteem and self confidence that extend to all other areas of life.
Keep up the good work.Pete Jesse
ParticipantI would be interested in most of these.
If I spent an hour looking at each one that works out to 16 hours.–Sometimes it is tough to find that much time.
It would be great if they could also be archived.
Cornell currently has many forestry webinars (not draft related) which I watch.

ParticipantExcellent video on another imported and devastating bug. We do not have the bore yet, a few counties away. I am watching my ash trying to decide if I should cut them now or wait and see what happens. My forester and a local mill says best to wait and see.
