ParticipantNeed to think of a way to make the power source look/seem more like playground equipment. Along the lines of those merry-go round and teeter/totter water pumps.

ParticipantHi Mark,
Did you look at the pics of Donn’s power forecart? He was running a +/- 20HP Honda to power the PTO. The clutch was a hand lever that pivoted the motor to engage the drive (sort of its own idler setup). The pics are on his photo page but I can’t recall which one it is (Picasa, Photobucket or ……). BTW – that motor will run a haybine.

Here you go – says “dead broke team” of Belgians with harness and wagon. Worth a look if it’s not too far.

ParticipantBest wishes to all of you who have suffered this storm. I know many places hadn’t fully rebounded from last year’s Irene devastation. Wish I could help somehow.

ParticipantZone 2 😮 – I always wondered who could survive the zone 1 and 2 regions. You have my respect.
“houses for the pigs” — igloos?
“15 bales 1800lbs each at a time.” – One load???? 27,000 lbs is a lot.

ParticipantWelcome FNF. This is a great resource for learning, asking questions and finding out about opportunities to grow your draft animal knowledge. The naysayers are everywhere so don’t be discouraged. There are plenty of folks here to show that it can be done.
There should be a thread here that lists a variety of books/videos as well as resources for draft equipment.
Again, welcome. BTW – how far north are you? North of Edmonton?

ParticipantThanks – I’ll need to check those out soon. I know some of the other Cornell videos are very good …..

ParticipantThanks Ben. Reading that article with some of the outrageous comments forced me to temporarily reactivate my FB account so I could add my $0.02 —

ParticipantI will add a hearty thumbs up in support of Tiller’s. In addition to all the great classes at nominal cost and wonderful people, they also have an outstanding collection of draft animal equipment.

ParticipantBack when I visited Tiller’s (2001 or so) they had a simple grader/leveler we used on the road. To me it looked similar to a pallet with angle iron reinforcing the cutting edges (the support pieces of the “pallet”). The support pieces were not parallel like a normal pallet but were angled so that the front one would feed to the back one which would then let it (gravel dirt etc) slide out – like pachinko – you changed the bite and steering by moving about on the platform (pallet). Lousy description but it worked really well. BTW – MArtin ditcher was awesome too.
