ParticipantBelieve it or not I havn’t been to the barn in a week and a half. Between PT, excercises and the cpm machine there isn’t much time to get in trouble. There could be an occasional nap too.

ParticipantI wrap them around someplace on the piece of euipment I am using. That doesn’t happen too often as I usually have my Dad with me and he holds them. I like Johns idea and I think I am going to give it a try.
This makes me think of the second time my team was ever hooked to anything. I was just getting mobile from a knee scope so I had an
Amish friend over to help. He hooked them to the manure spreader and drove them around a bit. When he stopped and got off he just threw the lines on the ground. I said arn’t you going to tie them or something? His response was “You have to start trusting them sometime.” I have never been that trusting.Marshall

ParticipantI was thinking of writing mine off, but most everything was purchased a few years ago so I don’t know if it is too late or not.

ParticipantI just hauled one home from 200 miles away. I put osb over the openings on the front half and locked him in the front. I did not tie him. It was about 20 degrees. He did just fine. I drove about 55 as I don’t like to go faster than that with an animal in the trailer.

ParticipantWell I was surprised. Not only did they recognize each other but it was like they were never seperated. She became protective when the other two tried pushing the little guy around. When I put them in the tie stall she kept watch to see were he was until I had him tied next to her. I think all will be well.

ParticipantJohn, I can’t help with a harness but I was wondering is that an average size hame for a clyde? I got a set of harnesses that came off from clydes and they had 24-26 collars. That is a bit smaller than most belgians around here. I can’t say I ever saw any clydes around here.

ParticipantHe is a gelding. He had the procedure last spring sometime. I don’t really care if they don’t remember each other as mother and son. What I am hoping is they will remember that they like each other and one won’t pick on the other in the tie stall. We will find out.

ParticipantThe cats are what make them rodent proof. At least that is what I am hoping when I get mine put up.

ParticipantI am no expert, but I think the four fingers is laying flat not on edge. I always thought a collar without a pad was like shoes without sox.

ParticipantI take linseed oil, warm it up a little then mix in some mineral spirits. I mix them approx. 50/50. After I put on a couple coats I put it out in the sun to dry. By warming the linseed oil it seems to soak in a little bit better.

ParticipantJohn I work at a GM dealer and we have 75w90 axle lube that does not smell bad. On the bottle it says it has a grape scent of all things. I don’t smell grape but it doesn’t stink either.

ParticipantJohn, you might want to try some sort of synthetic gear lube. I put used synthetic oil on my all steel manure spreader. That stuff sticks on like glue. I don’t know why but it will stay on for months even after rain.
