ParticipantWhen I went to look at her she didn’t want muc to do with me or the collar in my hand. After about a half hour I was sliding it on over her head. I think a little time and patience I should have a pretty good horse. She seems to be a big baby that is a little bit afraid.

ParticipantI am thankful for the positive responses. I really would like to get her but I just keep wondering if it would be like they say about buying a used car, “you get someone elses problems”. I guess there is only one way to find out.

ParticipantJohn, I am very tempted to give her a try. The gelding I have now was very jumpy and afraid of a lot when I got him. His former owner had to have him tranquilized to trim his feet. He will now do anything I ask of him without any trouble. The best dog I ever had was a stray that had been beaten. Once I gained her trust I could do anything with her. I have to believe a horse would be the same way. She would be with other horses and not by herself so it seems that would help also.

ParticipantI noticed that also at our county fair this year. There where some that put so much putty on the hooves that they made them square. Then they painted them black. Even with the paint you could tell they where made up. They looked like he!!. To top it off they make them walk stupid. They would actually stay in one spot and stomp their feet up and down. I am not into show horses, can you tell.

ParticipantI always wondered why it is neccessary to take stuff out of milk (fat and cream) and add other stuff (vitamins and who knows what else) to make it “better” for us.

ParticipantIt’s good to hear from you John. I was wondering how thing were going. It sound like agriculture is the same all around the world. There is one area farmer that was all excited when he reached 10,000 acres. I wouldn’t want the headaches. I called around on prices for planting wheat this fall. The average was almost $100 per acre and then there is still the urea in the spring. I am going to plant some hay and a little corn and oats for feed. Sad to say but I can make more money renting it out. Now the local grain elevator won’t even take oats. I hate to go that route but if things go to he!! in a hand car I still have all of the equipment so I can jump back in.

ParticipantYour beginning with the horses sound about like mine. I have had them for a few years now and thing go much better. You live in a very beautiful area. We were there a few years ago doing some geneology research. I hope to make it back again some day.
