Sickle hocks and Mac, thanks for your response. I have been doing this trim for a while now and it seem to work for what I do. Toes well back, no flares , heels down and well rounded walls seems to be the answer to stop them splitting. Im on the rasp every week but most of the time it requires nothing much till 4 weeks or so. Im not a “barefoot” geek and if my work load changes and their feet were tearing up then shoes would be on. One thing I did notice was that the flatfootedness is getting less…

Hi Mitch.. I was looking at that bale mover that Ixy put on has an extendable drawbar.. I wonder if an extending pole with the wire rope up the centre {steel pole} would work. Pull a pin, step the team forward tighening the rope, when the stakes are up back the team and repeat ??… best regards…

Robert I can see what you mean.. every day another of our civil liberties are taken away in the name of “terrorism”.. and sooner or later they will all be gone and we will be in the same situation as those poor folks in Egypt..history repeats.. Native Americans, Aboriginies and even the Scottish people were all sold down the river and lied to at first then it just escalates… in Scotland the ordinary people were betrayed by the so called leaders or clansmen.. all in the past but so easy for crap like that to happen in modern times. Whats that saying.. “bad things happen when good men do nothing”. That is how the mafia got so big.. lazy sobs that never did a days work in their life and stole everything they have .. we had those kind here too.. the kray twins for example. Wyatt Earp had the right idea..

Geoff that Albion mower I mentioned has the same set up ! a hole in the bottom of the casing… I always wonder what the best oil to use. Hate the smell of rear axle oil so have been squirting some chainsaw oil at it:D. the pitman arm is made of steel on mine so when it jams up it stops the wheels..

Donn I may have to parcel up a knife guard and mail you it to see if an equivelant can be found on your side. I have an Albion mower and spares are like hens teeth to find now.. most mowers over here ended up being shaken to pieces at 8 mph cutting thistles behind a tractor…

I have to admit OldKat I hadnt thought of it that way before:o.. Over here we have the crazy situation where you can buy your electric from the gas company and the gas from the electric boys !!!??? their reason is they can sell gas/electricity as a lump to each other and offer better deals… well Im sorry but the British people as a group are a massive customer so why not sell US the goods at the price they sell it to each other ??.. next thing you know we will be going to the green grocers to buy nails !!:D

Hi OldKat.. I am afraid I have been a real cynic when it comes to the oil and gas companies.. I always thought the rise in price of diesel compared to petrol coincided with the rise in diesel car sales and the winter spike was to cash in on folks having to crank up their oil and gas fired heating systems:D…

Hi Tim … yes there are still a few Ayrshire herds here, tho the cow is a lot bigger than they used to be but still have the grass conversion talent. The Fresian is gone pretty much totally.. not even a class at county shows for them, the Holstien rules, in fact my own local show doesnt have a dairy class anymore !!..

I think you’re right Marshall. Europe still has the small family farm mentality, tho even rural France is changing. I dont know what the answer is. As you say the price of land is jacked up to stupid levels by folk wanting a few acres for a pony or a quad bike to play on…

Hey John being less dependant on foreign oil doesnt make for cheap prices at the pumps.. we have north sea oil and pay some of the highest prices around. Drill for oil in deserts and out at sea… fine.. but the Rockies !!!!! I have to agree with Geoff on this one.. we were told when the first of the nuclear power stations were put in that “electricity would be to cheap to measure on a meter” … uh hu:rolleyes: I think the bottom line is that peak oil is biting hard now and the oil industry is getting desperate and we all have to knuckle down and get on with it.. and Im a huge fan of those big old V8 muscle cars btw but accept they have had their day:D:(… even the latest Shelby has a V6….
