ParticipantWell put Mitch !!.. we got told the same pile of croc with nuclear power ” it will be too cheap to meter” yea right… price is just the same.. I have nothing against companies making a profit… but when they try and cheat farmers thats it for me…I read an article about our old friend Monsanto in Australia and how a flash flood had washed a gm crop onto a farmers field and get this…. they sent him a letter saying “We wont sue you for patent infringment “!!!! that was big of them… mabey if they paid the native Americans that developed the corn in the first place it wouldnt be so bad.. these guys didnt demand payment…

ParticipantRonnie does the pole hang down on a chain from the ouside of the neck yoke to form a shallow v? I take it that when the pull goes on from the leaders the pole can rise to find its natural line of draft ??…

ParticipantSeems a bit ott, but when you bring office boys into the job of farming you can expect some lunacy.. What im slightly confused about is the growth of sales of these yoghurts with the “good” bacteria that are supposed to be good for us… Does pasturisation not kill these bacteria that occur naturally in milk ?? If that is so, how come these bacteria survive in the yoghurts that are sold in the shop?? or are we being sold a worthless product….

ParticipantI use a 3. 2 .1 ratio are a guide for mine.. having said that this is for wagon work… 3 times body weight on smooth tar.. 2 times on slopping roads and 1 to 1 or less on soft going..

ParticipantHi Ed .. over here the big dairy outfits seem to be polluted with docks. I personally think the switch from solid manure stored for a year to slurry is to blame ??..

ParticipantHey Tim that was great to see and a really effective tool for education. As Erika says a place on here for videos like this would be awesome… thanks again…

ParticipantTell you a thing I noticed with my 2 mares a fortnight ago… One of my pad clips tore out so I pulled the collar in to its smallest size and took the pad out. I may be mistaken but im almost certain she went a lot better without it ??. More confident I thought ?? any thoughts…

ParticipantThanks for the kind words people.. Yes Caitlyn did the braids..she is a bit more fussy on turnout than me:o. She can do a good job on tails for the halter classes as well… We havent had rain for nearly 2 weeks now and no signs for the incomming week. Could do with some rain now tho. Some of the spring barley around here is showing a bit of stress now.

ParticipantHey Marshall its great to hear youre getting back in harness again.. On balance i recon id go for the wet… i cant begin to imagine how OldKat and the folks in these regions manage with livestock. Ayrshire is unusually dry these past couple of years to but the heavy land can stand it dry for a while…

ParticipantThanks Lanny.. I have never used wood before so thot it better to check before i tried. The wood is excellent . No bottom straps on Scottish hames, a chain with a top strap. Thanks again ..

ParticipantI have a really nice pair of wooden hames and was wondering if they would be strong enough for the 3rd horse in my plow or would i be better with steel ones.. thanks in advance people…
