Is Ellen receiving the emails about these posts?

The following is a copy of a post that I had started to get the ball rolling for the Jan 2012 newsletter. It will certainly take more than 15 minutes to address newsletter items, perhaps a newsletter meeting should follow a 60 minute outreach meeting?

    Hi All,

I just want to try to get a start on the next newsletter and try to begin the coming year on time. It would be wonderful if we could have 4 newsletters next year, Jan, April, June and Oct. In order to get a Jan newsletter out I think a Jan 1st deadline is in order. Does this sound reasonable?

Also I know that a bunch of you have contributed to the newsletter, but I am not sure who exactly is on the newsletter committee. Mark and Pam have volunteered, maybe Ethan too, am I forgetting anyone?

Here is the list of content that I have thought of so far:
    President’s message- Jen
    Editor’s note- Erika
History of work horses- Pam done
    The Big One- Erika done
Athol coverage- Carl pics, Ellen It would be great if you could write an article from your perspective as someone just getting into it.
    DAP- Mark
    Mishaps- ?
Anything else that we can think of

We could probably stand to have a meeting sooner than later, here are some agenda items that need to be considered:
-Advertising, we need as much as possible to cover our costs
-Budget, we need to come up with some 2012 numbers including how many hours we need Jean’s service.
-protocol, we originally had a member benefit of getting a hardcopy newsletter a month before we posted it online, do we want to continue to do so? should we make an email copy an option to members to save money?
-in kind trading, lets make a list of those that we trade advertising with and see that it seems a fair trade amongst our group, some of these deals were made a while back and may be fine or be off some, it would be good to check this out.

    Bill,
Great to see working saddle horses, I am guessing that is what most people worked back in the day before wealthy people imported big horses.

I use Skype to talk to a friend in Wisconsin, I have never paid a cent, but I started my account years ago, so I am not sure if things have changed since then. It is certainly a good tool to have around.

Just to make thing difficult Jean, If I end up being able to attend, I can bring a gallon of NY maple syrup, then you’ll really have some choices to make:) We will have to bring some samples to aid in decision making.

I have in my meeting notes that Ed had volunteered to be on this committee, but I am not sure if he still plans on it given his involvement with P&E. Until we hear from him it looks like Monday at 6:30 works for us so far.

I like that the customer sends 3 checks if they want to spread it out, and that you cash them on a schedule, that way you are not waiting on customers that even with good intentions are late with payment. Maybe it is a typo, but is $50 of for full payment supposed to be a 1% discount?

I wish you well, I did my first CSA last year, it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed getting to know my customers. I look forward to being in a position where I could do it again someday.

    Keep up the good work,

I totally understand the time thing Jen, believe me I know. The downloadable version is not meant to be a replacement, but the early hard copy was meant to be a member benefit, but of course we can always change that if we want to, we can bring it up at the next committee meeting. Don’t worry about de-activating the link, we can always advertise in eNews, etc that members benefits include a timely copy (hard or download) and all others will have to wait to read a downloadable version. Glad you had the time to do all that you did this week.

    Jen,

I haven’t even received my hardcopy of the newsletter and it is already posted on the website. I don’t mean to discourage your great presence and updating of the web stuff this week, but it was my understanding that we would wait a month to post newsletters online. This originally was a way to give paying members a benefit, getting the news first, then sharing with the lurkers after it is old news. Maybe this should be discussed for the future issues.

Thanks for the eNews and great posts, you are doing a great job with it all,

    Erika

would love to see them too. Enjoy them while they are small.

Carl, if others understand what you mean with glued together letters, then it is certainly a word whether Webster says so or not 🙂

So sorry Tim, that seems rather sudden, was he your lame steer? No Will should be without their Abe 🙁

That sounds like an excellent idea for a volunteer to take by the horns….

It should be easy enough for Ed to do, but if he needs help, Mark has set them up before.

in the past doodle.com has been a big help at figuring out times to meet, Mark would set them up for us, it is worth a try anyway.
