    Anyone make ox bells ?

    I made a couple out of curiosity. The first one I have not finished. I used the acetylene torch to apply the bronze, thats what the green stuff is (flux). I still need to smooth the bronze out and do some finishing touches on it.

    What do you all think ?

    It sounds pretty decent too..

    Nice. Where do you hang them when you have a yoke on and the collars off?

    you can hang them on the yoke, as it’s customary in my region.

    Always wanted to make some cow bells. Saw plans somewhere but can’t remember were. Can anybody help me out.

    Not bad for the first time. My first few were hit and miss. That was years ago. Be careful of warping the bell when brazing. Try doing it the traditional way using a clay ball.

    Carmen, Can old bells be heat tempered to change the tone?

    Yes, Mark, they can be. There are numerous other ways to change the tone and pitch, too. These should be tried before heat treating.
